World Bank Aid Sanitation Access Decent

Asia Pacific Regional Team Leader of the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) of the World Bank, Almud Weitz said, in the East Asia and Pacific, currently there are approximately 670 million people who do not have access to adequate sanitation facilities and 100 million people are still accustomed to pee arbitrarily large.

Data WSP in 2007, showed that in five countries, including Indonesia, are still many people who do not use adequate sanitation facilities led to the loss of economic potential to nine billion U.S. dollars, equivalent to two percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

For that, Almud confirmed that the World Bank is still committed to helping increase access to adequate sanitation. Budget spent continues doubled every year since 2006.

"We have a total portfolio of the World Bank to increase access to adequate sanitation is around four billion dollars," he said.
